We brought together undergraduate students from diverse academic backgrounds and introduced them to the field of cellular agriculture. Events were held online and in Melbourne, hosted by the University of Melbourne Future Food Hallmark Research Initiative.
Students had the opportunity to explore new opportunities using cellular agriculture technologies through exploring a broad yet pressing question - how can we leverage cellular agriculture technology to revolutionise the food system and ensure its sustainability and ethics?
Participants completed a range of activities, including:
- team building exercises,
- design thinking
- creative problem-solving activities
- industry professional talks
- and pitch presentations.
By engaging participants in this challenge, we aimed to foster interdisciplinary collaboration, nurture the development of innovative ideas, and cultivate a deeper understanding of the potential that lies within cellular agriculture. Inspiring the next generation of professionals is an essential building block of a sustainable talent pipeline that is essential for the future of the cellular agriculture sector.
The event also gave CAA the chance to better understand how our Outreach and Education work can have the greatest impact. More broadly, we hoped to learn more about the types of events and learning opportunities that students would benefit from, and how CAA’s resources can be best utilised to support these events.
